After reading exactly 7 pages of The Female Eunuch and some more pages of a really bad translation of The Second Sex, I have decided that 'Long Way 2 Go' by Cassie is the nearest thing to a feminist anthem R'n'B is ever getting as long as Missy Elliott remains 'enslaved by exaggerated ideals for women' (ie 'on a diet') and the Destiny's Child 'Independent Woman' message remains Downplayed by the likes of Diddy and co (yes it is a warped equality, based solely on materialism BUT like, it is Equality nonetheless).
'Fierce'? The song basically disses the likes of 'Lloyd' and 'Chris Brown' and 'Akon' - the lyrics are so The Other Side Of The Mariah Carey Stereotypical R'n'B Woman Spectrum that I am pretty sure Simone de Beauvoir is championing this song from 'beyond the grave'. Plus the video is brill. 'shirtless love'. 'lol.
In other news, Grace Jones is the coolest person in the universe and Kate Bush is a close second. I regret not knowing this Before but At Least I Know Now, Eh?
